See if this $20 ‘dupe’ of a cult-favourite skincare product is ‘better than the original’

Nothing beats scoring a high-quality beauty product at half the price. But what’s even better is finding an inexpensive dupe of a designer item that works just as well – maybe even better – than the original.
Recently, one Chemist Warehouse employee and beauty enthusiast was kind enough to reveal a secret dupe of a popular beauty product that has been all the rage recently!
Jess, who regularly spills insider beauty tips on social media, revealed an affordable alternative to a cult-beauty classic, the Drunk Elephant's viral D-Bronzi Sunshine Drops, which typically retails for $54 and can be found in Mecca.
This bronzer, which is a skincare-makeup hybrid that’s often praised for giving the skin a ‘sun-kissed glow’, is incredibly popular in the beauty community. But because of its rave reviews, the product is currently out of stock in stores and online across the country.
The beauty enthusiast then revealed the ‘perfect alternative’ for the designer brand: Bali Body's $29.95 Bronzing Serum. She also put it to the test to see if it could compare with the viral beauty item. And the results were surprising.
According to Jess, both bronzing serums are used to hydrate the skin while giving it a warm glow. But Bali Body’s formula is a whopping $24 cheaper.
According to the product description, Bali Body’s bronzing serum is commonly used together with another serum, moisturiser, oil, or BB cream to give a ‘bronzy finish’. However, it can also be applied directly to the face and body for an added glow.
Jess tried the Bali Body bronzing serum by adding a few drops of it to her moisturiser as the instructions said.
‘I've got a good amount of moisturiser, I don't know how much to use. I think it's very dependable on how dark you want it,’ Jess explained.
Then, she mixed the two products together on the back of her hand and applied them to her face.
As for her review, Jess shared: ‘It did blend in well and gave me a beautiful bronze glow. I would recommend having a fake tan on though, as it might be a little funny with pasty skin.’
Jess added that the serum could be applied directly on the cheeks as a cream bronzer, giving the face a warm, honeyed shimmer.
Many of Jess’ viewers agreed that the bronzer was the perfect Drunk Elephant dupe, with others saying that the alternative was better than the original.
‘This looks a lot better than the drunk elephant drops in my opinion and a more affordable option. Very nice,’ one beauty enthusiast said.
Another shared: ‘I was so excited to get the Drunk Elephant bronze drops and mixed it with moisturiser. So disappointed.’ And Jess replied that she wouldn’t be spending $54 on the high-end variant.
‘This is a much better option!’ She added.

If Bali Body’s price tag is still too steep for a beauty bronzer, we’ve found another alternative for the Drunk Elephant bronze drops. Flower Beauty’s Heat Wave Bronzing Essence costs $13.99, and is described as ‘an oil-free essence that enhances the skin’s radiance and gives a natural glow’.
Flower Beauty, founded and owned by Hollywood celebrity Drew Barrymore, promises that every formula they make is of ‘prestige-quality’ that comes in ‘innovative packaging at an affordable price’. So, if you’re keen on trying out a new beauty product, you can find this bronzer essence in Chemist Warehouse’s online store!
