One shopper named Georgia recently discovered Bunnings’ lesser-known policy that allows dead plants to be returned for a refund.

'I was in Bunnings today, and as I was checking out, the lady was like “Make sure you keep your receipt on your plants”,' Georgia said in her video.

The employee explained: 'Because they come with a 12-month warranty. It doesn't really matter how they die, we'll just replace them for you within a 12-month period.'

'Do you know the amount of plants that have died on me? This is life-changing information!' Georgia said in glee.

The policy—the ‘perfect plant promise'—is outlined on the Bunnings website and in the gardening section of most stores.

The policy applies to all plants sold, with the exception of fruit and vegetable seedlings and short-lived plants that are not expected to live for more than three to five months.

To receive a refund, customers need to provide a receipt or tax invoice.

Georgia’s video has now received almost 920,000 views, and many expressed they also were not aware of the policy's existence.

'I literally have worked at Bunnings for a few years, and I didn’t know this,' one shared.

'The amount of money I have spent and how lush my garden would be!' a second added.

While a third said: 'Wish I knew this before.'

Employees weighed in on the conversation as well, with one saying: 'As a Bunnings worker here, there are banners with this written hanging in the nursery.'

While another employee added: '[You] just need your receipt, said dead plant, and the pot it came in. Happy gardening!'

Dear members, this is a great reminder to keep hold of your receipts! Whether it’s for a plant or something else, it’s a good habit to get into. This way, if anything ever goes wrong, you’ll have the paperwork handy to help make your refund and return processes easier.

I knew about the refund of plants , so I keep all my Bunnings receipts and clip them together . :) (y).

Bunnings don’t have to replace dead plants for any reason, if they died from obvious negligence on the customers behalf, for example they left them in the original pot or did not water them, the Bunnings I work at can and has refused a refund or replacement. It is surprising how easy it is to tell if a plant has been neglected and not given proper care. I don’t know why people wouldn’t know about this policy as it is advertised on large signs in every nursery in every Bunnings I have ever been to.

Negligence is common sense to me .
