The Four Stages of Sleep
  1. 1. NREM Stage 1 (Light Sleep):
The transitional stage between wakefulness and sleep. You are still easily woken up during this time, and your body begins to relax.
  2. 2. NREM Stage 2 (Light Sleep):
Your brain and body activity slows down further. Heart rate, body temperature, and breathing decrease as you drift deeper into sleep.
  3. 3. NREM Stage 3 (Deep Sleep):
This is the restorative stage of deep sleep where the body physically repairs itself. It's difficult to wake a person in this stage.
  4. 4. REM Sleep:
Brain activity resembles that of being awake. This is when vivid dreaming and experiences occur. Most muscle activity is temporarily lost, but the eyes move rapidly under the eyelids.
