Score a fun spa experience for the WHOLE family for only $39 at BIG W

We know the current state of the economy is hitting hard for Aussies everywhere. But a bit of fun every now and then can’t hurt, right?

So, treat yourselves to a relaxing day and spend some quality time with your family this summer – thanks to a massive sale at BIG W!

As the sun scorches, it can be tempting to take a dip in the ocean to cool off. But due to health issues or other circumstances, many might have trouble swimming in the open water.

So, if you’re the kind of person who loves spending time outdoors, but doesn’t want to take a trip to the beach, then you’re going to love this summer item from Aussie retail giant, BIG W!

Shoppers were delighted after the retail giant recently slashed the price of its Intex Swim Centre Family Lounge Pool from $79 to just $39.50 – meaning you can enjoy the summer season with the whole family at a fraction of the cost.

The inflatable pool is made from durable vinyl and comes with a repair patch and drain plug – making it a great buy that you can reuse for next summer or take with you on your next out of town with the grandkids!

According to the product description, the inflated dimension measures 2.29m x 2.29m x 66cm which is big enough to fit both kids and adults. The family lounge pool comes equipped with two cup holders to hold your fruit smoothies (or favourite 18+ drink) in place while the grandkids enjoy splashing around in the water.

The inflatable pool also has four built-in seats with backrests where it’s easier to relax, sit back and stretch your legs.

The lounge pool did come with a warning. On the website, BIG W said: ‘Children have drowned in portable swimming pools. Ensure active adult supervision at all times. Do not leave children unsupervised in or around the pool – keep them within arm’s reach.’

That said, the family lounge pool has already been given the thumbs up from many BIG W customers.

‘Best investment for a hot summer’s day! Great size for all the family, love the seats so you can just sit back and chill with a drink. Cup holders come in handy for your drink, if you want to dunk under to get totally cooled down,’ one wrote.

Another one recommended the pool as a great way to ‘sit back and relax’.

‘Love this design! This pool has been the best little purchase for a pool yet. We have been loving it for the past few weeks. This summer heat was ridiculous!’ A third commented.

Others gave the pool a five-star rating for its quality and great value for money.

BIG W also reminded everyone to be mindful of the pool fencing laws in their area and consider the safety regulations in place. Pool accidents can be fatal and it’s important to adhere to such guidelines.

Since local governments are responsible for pool fencing laws and regulations, the rules may vary from state to state. For instance, in NSW, the pool fencing requirements for small inflatable pools (under 300mm in height) include:
  • Ensuring the water is kept pure. Water left in inflatable pools for periods of time can become contaminated and cause diseases.
  • Children should always be supervised.
  • Empty the pool and store it safely when not in use.

In Queensland, pool safety laws apply if the portable pool or spa meets any of these criteria:
  • Can be filled with water to a depth of more than 300mm.
  • Has a volume of more than 2,000L.
  • Has a filtration system.
If it meets one or more of these criteria, the owner must get a pool safety certificate from a licensed building certifier stating that the pool complies with safety standards, obtain a building permit, and register the pool or spa.

Additionally, pool fencing laws may also require a four-sided fence surrounding the pool and larger spas may have their own dedicated fencing separate from a pool enclosure.

There are different requirements for above-ground pools, in-ground pools, backyard spas and indoor pools, so it’s important to check the requirements for each before making your purchase.

It’s also important to note that you may be liable for any injury or fatality that occurs in and around your pool if it is not compliant with the pool fencing laws and regulations specified by your local government. So, make sure you are aware of what they are before purchasing.
