School Bags

Take a stroll down memory lane—back to the days of trusty school bags and simple lunches! Did you carry a satchel, a port, or that classic blue cardboard backpack with leather straps? Inside might’ve been a rolled-up yellow raincoat, a plastic lunchbox, and a frozen cordial bottle with a cup on top. Lunch? Vegemite, peanut paste, or Peck’s Devilled Ham. Ring any bells?

Yes we had the good old Globite hard school cases. The small ones for kindergarten and primary school ranging up to larger ones for high school. They were always so awkward to carry and seem to have very small handles. Years later they found out they contributed to back issues and scoliosis!
I still have a couple these days but they are only used to store things.

I started with the standard Globite and then in later primary and early secondary years the "Stanely" Stamford case which was a bit more sophisticated. They were always so heavy to carry as my mother insisted that we have a jumper and rain coat permanently packed as well as the many books needed each day and a big lunch box.

My children had a school bag for their books and lunch but in the UK we got hot subsidised meals everyday and a gill of milk. All the books were left in our desk for the next class as we moved up one.
