Optus Scam:

Member Jayne F. received the following message despite not owing any money.

'OPTUS: #97235-34455
There has been an issue with your monthly direct debit to pay for our services. We require you to pay unpaid balances via:i-optus.com'

Visa Scam:

Member Dave S shared:

'Everybody should know about the VISA Scam! The scammers run programs testing numbers at a squillion a second. When the green light pops up, they know they have an active VISA number which they use to make purchases. On my account, a scammer had made over a 100 small purchases on eBay. We did not notice over two years approx. A friend in Bowral had paid for a flight to the Philippines! Suggestion: Check your statements thoroughly every time. Ask your Banker how good their security is!'

Toll Scam:

at the moment I still have my smarts, a bit scary looking down the track but I guess I will forget how to use everything first.

Linkdt one got me for $1700, other people much more. Kwik trip to Sydney after a long break - seemed reasonable that I might not have topped up my toll acct. Luckily my bank BOQ picked up on it, cancelled my credit card and rang me. Great service, I could have lost a huge amount.
