I had text message to say it was from fraud squad and to ring them on such and such a number. What I did was ring my bank on the number I know is correct (got it from my bank statement to be doubly sure) and yes it was indeed their fraud squad. I then went ahead and spoke to them to find that they had put a freeze on a large amount I was transferring to another bank. I advised that yes it was me and that the payment could go through. Good to see they are on the ball.Concentrating on that mobile number is a mistake.
Number spoofing will generate a different number every time.
And, how many "banks" will call you from a mobile number?
NEVER act on any supposed official unsolicited call from any bank or Govt institution, and never call back on any number the caller wants you to ring.
If you must ring, ring direct on a number you know to be correct.
Common sense is your best defence.
