Except for close family all my calls on my land line are vetted by the operator, if they want to speak to me personally the op. will ask me if I want to speak to them press 1 if not press 2it is surprising our many people put the phone down.

My brother-in-law in Wales used to blow his trumpet (literally) into the phone when a nuisance call came in! Ouch, that must have hurt.

I work in an emergency call centre, and I can tell you that acoustic shock is a life changing experience. I haven't had it but have worked with those who have and they have not been able to keep working there.

I don’t do it anymore since I got the stop thingy it was only for those people with the funny languages.
