An unlikely product has taken savvy cleaners across the country by storm after it was revealed that it works wonders by transforming dirty rugs into brand new looking rugs.
A number of homeowners have taken to Facebook to reveal the surprising cleaning hack using a shaving cream — a grooming product available at supermarkets, beauty stores, and other independent retailers for as little as $2.
So, how does the hack work?
The homeowners recommend spraying a generous amount of the cream over the rug's surface for 20 minutes before spraying it with water using a high-pressure hose.
Once the excess cream is removed, let your rug dry out in the sun.
The result? A squeaky clean rug that looks brand new!
One woman shared before and after photos of her rug transformation using the cleaning hack, claiming that she was "amazed" by the results.

She wrote: “Thanks to a helpful mum in the group, I tried the shaving cream wash on my rug today.”
"It’s not even dry yet and just look at the before and after shots."
“This rug would have to be at least 10 years old and I’ve never got this cleaning result, even after having it professionally cleaned."
“Needless to say I’m amazed!"
“Apparently it leaves it smelling nice but mine is still out drying, so not sure about that one.”
Another person said that the "unbelievable" results left her speechless.
“Got a bit carried away! Two rugs down, last one to go - they smell so amazing,” the woman wrote on the Mums Who Clean Facebook page.
“Shaving foam sat for 20 minutes, pressured with the pressure cleaner [and] then used the Bissell machine to soak up as much water as I can. Then let dry.
“Next up will be my lounges, minus the pressure cleaner on them!”

A number of astounded users expressed their excitement over the hack, with many saying they were keen to try the tip themselves.
One person wrote: “I’m about to do that this weekend. With two dogs, thank you for inspiring me to use shaving cream! Can’t wait!” said one.
“Shaving cream is actually concentrated soap, that’s why it cleans so well,” another explained.
A third chimed in: “We did the same on the weekend. It’s so good came up new again!”
“That’s it, I’m trying shaving cream on my rugs!” another quipped.
