Save Money and the Planet with Top Bathroom Cleaners of 2024, According to CHOICE Review!

When it comes to keeping our homes spick and span, the bathroom often requires the most elbow grease. But for those of us who are environmentally conscious and watching our pennies, finding the right cleaning products can be a balancing act between efficacy, cost, and ecological impact. Fortunately, the latest review from CHOICE, the leading consumer advocacy group in Australia, has made this balancing act a little easier with their 2024 bathroom cleaner review.

CHOICE has rigorously tested 44 bathroom cleaning products to help consumers make informed decisions. Topping the list with a stellar 90% score is the ecostore's antibacterial bathroom and shower cleaner refill concentrate, priced at a reasonable $5.50. This top buy not only promises to leave your bathroom sparkling but also supports sustainable living with its eco-friendly formula.

Hot on its heels is Aldi's green action plant-based formula bath and shower cleaner, which scored an impressive 89% and comes with an even more impressive price tag of $2.99. It's one of five products that achieved the same high score in CHOICE's testing, demonstrating that you don't have to spend a lot to get a high-quality clean. The other high scorers include:

- Dettol Healthy Clean Bathroom
- Community Co Clean Freak! Bath and Shower Cleaner
- Earth Choice Antibacterial Bath & Shower
- Ecostore Antibacterial Bathroom and Shower Cleaner (full formulated spray)

These products not only promise to tackle the grimy messes that are all too common in our bathrooms but also contain active ingredients like sodium hydroxide, lactic acid, and hydrogen peroxide. These components are known for their bleaching and disinfecting properties, making them effective against stubborn mould and soap scum.

CHOICE expert Rebecca Ciaramidaro emphasizes the benefits of using cleaning products specifically designed for the bathroom. While multi-purpose and kitchen sprays can be used, bathroom cleaners are formulated to handle the unique challenges of bathroom grime.

In addition to the bathroom cleaner review, CHOICE also released results for their toilet cleaner review. Among the 29 toilet cleaners tested, budget buys again came out on top. Aldi's Power Force Bright and Clean Oxy Toilet Cleaner Bleach Gel, costing just $2.19, led the pack with a score of 75%. Following closely was Coles Ultra Advanced Oxy Action Toilet Gel, priced at $2.30, with a score of 70%.

For maintaining a clean bathroom, CHOICE recommends daily practices such as using a squeegee after each shower to prevent soap scum build-up and tackling mould at the first sign of its appearance. They also advise saving money and reducing waste by ditching paper towels and wipe-style products in favor of reusable rags that can be used with sprays.

By choosing one of the top-rated cleaners from CHOICE's review, not only can you keep your bathroom hygienic and fresh, but you can also contribute to a healthier planet and keep your household budget in check. It's a win-win situation for eco-savvy seniors who value both cleanliness and sustainability.

So, next time you're stocking up on cleaning supplies, consider one of these budget-friendly, eco-conscious options. Your bathroom, wallet, and the Earth will thank you.

For the life of me, I don't get the trend to clean each room with different products.
I take no notice of what the experts say, or, what is deemed the most popular.
It is just a marketing thing, and, they do not work any differently to what I choose to use. The KISS principle is my favourite plan.

I’m on septic and they never give results for use with septic for us rurals
You have my sympathy.
I used to live in a house with a transpiration area and water tank.
Very hard water that needed additive in the washing, and, a never ending battle with keeping the toilet bowl clean. Oh the humanity.
