In a time of skyrocketing prices across Australia, the South Australian government has announced an unbelievable deal on houses.
Ninety-five new single-storey and townhouse two-bedroom homes will be built in Blair Athol as part of the state government's Public Housing Improvement Program worth $232.7 million which aims to deliver a total of 437 homes in South Australia.
The area is just 8 kilometres away from the Adelaide CBD, with price tags ranging from $465,000 to $505,000.
The homes are targeting buyers with a household income under $130,000 per year, or singles earning less than $100,000.
The state government is marketing these homes as 'affordable', given the median house price in the area is $680,000.
'The public home builds, combined with the government-backed affordable homes, is rejuvenating this wonderful suburb, close to parks, facilities, and schools, which is ideal for families,' Human Services Minister Nat Cook said.
'Rebuilding stocks and boosting supply takes time, but we have made a positive start and halted a generational trend [that] would have seen public housing supply continue to decline.'
The SA government aims to create 3,600 new homes in the next five years and reduce the cost of housing for 14,000 more new homes through a suite of planned measures.
This includes the 2023-2024 state budget plan to scrap stamp duty for new homes under $650,000 or vacant land valued under $400,000.
In similar news, apartments with waterfront views at a resort in Queensland are being sold for as low as $50,000! But it comes with a catch…
Because of a corporate dispute, the resort has been cut off and closed back in June, and there is no timeline for when the power, water, gas, or sewerage will be switched back on.
A representative from Astras and Bond Estate Agents, Critton Astras said that people won’t be able to find a similar property for 'such a low price'.
'From studios, one bedrooms, two-bedroom lodges, three bedrooms, some great eco cabins out in the forest and you've got the villas,' he said.
'Anything ranging from say $50,000 all the way through to $300,000.'
Unit owner Justin Daly took the risk as he believed it was worth the chance.
'My wife and I came here a few years ago when it was sort of open, we sort of always loved the place, and obviously, it's a great time to buy now,' Daly said.
Daly reportedly uses generators and solar panels for electricity and remains optimistic about the future of his property.
'People here are amazing,' he said.
'They care about the place, and I really think that it'll be what it was before.'
