Royal couple releases emotional statement after murder of MP Sir David Amess

Following the shocking murder of Conservative MP Sir David Amess just last week, Prince William and wife Kate Middleton took to Twitter to express an emotional statement online.
“We are shocked and saddened by the murder of Sir David Amess, who dedicated 40 years of his life to serving his community.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues. W & C”
The tweet was signed off with the couple’s initials, W and C, indicating that the statement came directly from William and Catherine themselves rather than their social media handlers.

On Friday, October 15, Conservative MP Sir David Amess died aged 69 after being stabbed multiple times in an alleged terrorist attack during a meeting with constituents. Metropolitan Police specialist team, The Counter Terrorism Command, led the investigation into the attack.
Sir David represented Southend West, Essex, since 1997, and was one of the longest-serving MPs in parliament.
He was holding a constituency surgery at Belfairs Methodist Church in Eastwood Road North.

Shortly after 12:05 BST, Essex Police Chief Constable BJ Harrington received reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived at the location, they had found the politician with multiple injuries.
Paramedics worked for over two hours to save the MP but were unsuccessful.
The 25-year-old alleged suspect was arrested at the scene and is remaining in police custody.
Sir David’s colleagues, which include the royal couple, responded with shock and horror to the incident. They described the late MP as one of "the kindest men in politics".
