When I was in high school in the early 70's ... only bogs wore black ripple sole desert boots.

These were very popular in NZ in the 1960s & whilst formally called desert boots, the common term for them was brothel creepers.

I had a pair and my aunty would tell me off as she had a gravel driveway and i would bring in gravel all the time.
