REVEALED: Difference between cheap and expensive ice cream: "This is wild!"

When it comes to buying ice cream, you may want to reconsider your shopping habits after a young finance guru revealed a surprising fact.
In a recently uploaded TikTok video that has now gone viral, Queenie Tan from Sydney explained that in comparison to more expensive brands of ice cream, cheaper varieties often contain a greater volume of air.
The theory was put to the test when the 26-year-old, who goes by the handle @investwithqueenie on the video-sharing platform, compared two different brands available at Woolies.
In the clip, Queenie can be seen transferring the ice cream from the container into two separate bowls that are then placed on a kitchen scale. There, she discovered that the more expensive 457mL container of ice cream weighed 391 g, while the less expensive 2-litre container weighed only 885 g.

According to Queenie, the product with the lower price contained 44% ice cream and 56% air, whereas the more expensive one contained 86% ice cream and only 14% air.
This discovery raises the question of whether or not it is worth it to purchase the pricier option in comparison to the cheaper alternative.
Queenie wrote: "Even with the air, the cheap ice cream was 10 times cheaper per litre than the expensive one! But it's just interesting to think about."
"Just so you know, these figures are estimates because I don't have a lab where I can measure everything exactly! I just thought it was interesting to see how one ice cream differed from another," she went on to say.
Queenie's video has already amassed a staggering 2.9 million views since its initial upload, and hundreds of users shared their opinion about the 'fun fact'.
In the comments, one user wrote, "Now I know why I find expensive ice cream tastier."
A second user added that their "mind is blown", with a third chiming in and writing, "So you're saying I get to eat more of the cheap stuff because it's lighter…"
However, a number of users pointed out that the comparison may have been 'unfair' because she compared "two different units of measurement," which they argued may have skewed the results.
One user called her out, saying: "Why are you calculating the liquid volume ratio to grams? Using your logic, a 2L of ice cream should weigh 2 kilos if it's 100 per cent ice cream."
Some users defended Queenie, arguing that the point remains the same: more expensive brands are "denser" than cheaper ones. This means that consumers are receiving more ice cream per litre of product.
Many of you folks might see things differently, but we think that cold weather and ice cream actually go really well together.
The frozen treat can be enjoyed without the worry of it melting, and it is ideal for relieving the scratchy throats that are common during this time of year. It can even be paired with other treats and drinks for the ultimate experience.
If you enjoy a hot cuppa in the winter, ice cream is the perfect complement. Having something warm to offset the chilliness of the ice cream makes for a more enjoyable experience overall – the best of both worlds, as many would say!
Whatever you serve with your ice cream, it will always be one of the most surprisingly delectable treats for winter. Other hot drinks that pair well with ice cream include:
