Maybe I'm a renovating snob but I can't help but think these are only temporary fixes. They are kicking the ball further down the road. I would rather wait a bit until I'd saved up enough to do a proper job correctly and professionally.

We used the peel and stick tiles in our kitchen. Within 12 months they were moving and getting scuffed at the joins. And yes, my husband did it very slowly and carefully. They looked great at first but didn’t last, and now we have to lift them and decide what to do with the floor now.

The peel on vinyl tiles will lift in next-to-no-time. Even washing the floors causes this along with a hot day. Please people, do not do this even to walls as they will lift. These sorts of tiles were already in my home front sunroom and laundry and they are the worse ever. They are also in the kitchen and although this are not lifting up they get very dirty and the grime in between each tile is impossible to keep clean. Your not dealing with grout but the glue of the vinyl tile. Plus, they are ugly. If anything, buy a roll of this design vinyl flooring and lay there. I wouldn't even glue this down as you can later easily replace with new vinyl flooring and a different design. You can even get one that looks like laid wood.

as a trade handyman for 27 years Im afraid I have to agree with others above I have had many jobs to go and repair renos by the owner of rentals with above methods -lifting tiles/paint peeling -even if you use the expensive tile/laminate paint on the benchtop [or tiles] just drop something like a scissor or such and it will chip
any paint used in bathrooms needs to be a gloss finish so as not to allow mould to stick [Im not sure about chalk paint but I guess its not gloss]
not to mention if you need to replace the silicon around the sink or splash back you will remove paint to get old silicon off
yes it looks ok but not for long
this is the sort of reno you do before selling the house [someone else's problem after that]
