Retiring, retired farm owner.​

After my wife's parents (father-92nd year & mother-85) passed away in 2002 & 2004, they left their 23 acre farmlet to my wife. They finally retired in 1998-9 to a bigger town, 20 kms away, the town where we lived for 40 yrs.
We sold up & moved onto the farm, knowing it would be ours one day. Sadly we only had them for another 2 & 4 yrs
Incidentally, my parents also passed away in 2001 & 2002.
Sorry, I'm rambling on, but as we're 85 & 82 now, the farm, (albeit leased to a neighbour), has become too much for us &
we're hoping to sell up & move back to our old home town.

Welcome, and thanks for that. I love listening to everyone's backgrounds. They're usually so rich.

Your comments have made me realise that as a city girl, I'll never truly understand how big a farm actually is. I thought that 23 acres was a lot... then you called it a farmlet. It just goes to show my ignorance about these things!

It sounds like the farm has some family significance. Would none of your kids or grandkids be interested in taking over?
