Remove that sticky coating.​

You know the coating. It's on ball point pens, hair brush handles, keyboards and a myriad other items.
When it goes sticky you think you have to throw the item away.
Not so. Put some methylated spirits on a rag or even paper towel, and rub it away. You might need to persevere but with a little elbow grease you'll reveal the smooth surface underneath.
