Yep remember getting paid in cash, grand total of $76, and was able to save for a house as well.

Those were the days!!! all that money in your brown envelope, with all the deductions on the front…
I never paid board, on the condition that I banked a third of my pay each week….when I finally left home I had a deposit for my first home and a car…
