RECALL: Children's foldable e-bike recalled over safety concerns - what you need to know

There are plenty of benefits to teaching your grandchildren how to ride a bike. For one, it's a great way to bond with them and spend quality time together. It's also a great way to get them active and moving around, which is important for their overall health and well-being.

Plus, it can be a great confidence booster for kids. It's a skill they can take with them for the rest of their lives, and it's something they can use to explore the world around them.

While there are several bikes available that are marketed for children, it is important to double-check whether the product is safe for use.

An urgent recall has been issued for a children's foldable e-bike because it poses a severe risk of serious harm.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) confirmed the recall of eZee Viento folding e-bikes, saying that several reports suggested that the frames could break during use.

It should be noted that cyclists could sustain catastrophic injuries if the frame fractures while they are riding.

The bikes, which were sold since 2015, were available in select bike shops in Melbourne, Perth, and Canberra, as well as in Glow Worm Bicycles stores in Sydney and Melbourne.

The ACCC recommended that bike owners stop using the product right away and get in touch with the store where they purchased the bike to arrange for a replacement frame.

Customers can email Glow Worm Bicycles at [email protected] for further information.

If any of our members have grandchildren who ride foldable bikes, we urge them to check the bikes out again in case they are the same product being recalled!

Another recall !!

7 years is a long time to work out that something has safety issues.

Growing up I don't remember anything being recalled.

Maybe they need to get it right before putting it on the market.

E bikes?!? Why are parents buying their kids e bikes? Surely that defeats the object of getting kids out and active. Why has it taken so long to issue the recall, surely the problem was there from the start.:(

Should not have been issued in the first place. Where are the supposed people who test everything before put on to the open market? Wouldn't happen in Japan where even the smallest commodity is tested for years before it is tossed into the open market.
