Recall Alert: Dangerous bacteria found in dozens of cleaning products

Urgent alert to all of our members: a range of popular laundry and household cleaning products have recently been recalled due to microbiological contamination.
Various The Laundress cleaning items, which were sold in pharmacies, homeware, and giftware stores were recalled by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) for containing bacteria that can cause serious health risks, including severe infection or illness.
These items were also sold in-store and online at Saison between January 1, 2021, and November 22, 2022.
The bacteria, which include Burkholderia cepacia complex, Klebsiella aerogenes, as well as various species of Pseudomonas, can cause adverse effects if inhaled, ingested, or if it enters the body via the eyes or an open wound.
These bacteria are especially dangerous for people with weakened immune systems, underlying lung conditions, and external medical devices.

Customers may begin requests for reimbursement at The Laundress’ dedicated recall website or by clicking here.
They may also reach a dedicated helpline at 1800 061 027 on weekdays, 7 AM to 4 PM AEST and on weekends from 8 AM to 4 PM.

Saison advises customers to make sure to prepare proof of purchase such as a receipt or tax invoice as it will be required to place a claim.
Once a refund is secured, customers are advised to throw the product away without emptying it before disposal.
