Queen wants Prince Harry and Meghan to resume royal duties

These days, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are touring New York and making an appearance at the Global Citizen Live event in Central Park, taking the stage to strengthen support for the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to those who need it the most.

But a former friend of the late Princess Diana believes the Duke of Sussex will eventually step back into his role as a senior royal, despite the pair’s move away from the country.

Royal photographer Kent Gavin thinks that the Queen would like to see Prince Harry and Meghan resume their royal duties.

In an article written by Natalie Oliveri for 9Honey, Gavid said, “I think he will,” when asked if Prince Harry would return as a senior working royal in the palace.

And he hopes the couple will return. He knows for certain that the Queen would like it, based on what he is hearing from the people at the palace. “But only time will tell,” Gavin remarks.

The photographer says how that would happen would depend on the contents of the Prince’s planned book. He added that a lot of it would still come down to what Prince Harry decides to include in his upcoming tell-all memoir.

"I don't know how they will go about that, the more Harry is going to disclose in those books, there is still a lot, we understand, to come out. It will be interesting to see."

Kent Gavin’s career as photographer for the royal family began with Queen Elizabeth herself in the 1960s. Over the span of 60 years, he has received a myriad of awards, including being named Royal Photographer of the Year seven times and Royal Photographer of the Decade twice, both in the 1980s and 1990s.
He earned the respect and trust of the royals so much that he was also the only photographer invited on the Royal Barge at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee flotilla in 2012.

But it is his work, and friendship, with the Princess of Wales, that he is most known for. Their close working relationship extended to Diana’s children as well.

He looks back and thinks that Prince’s mother would have tried to “guide” Meghan and help her navigate the early days of being part of the family, a wishful alternate reality wherein the couple did not make the decision to leave the Royal House.
