Queen Elizabeth II rejects Prince Harry and Meghan’s wish: Here’s why they can't live in Windsor Castle!

The story of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, had intrigued people worldwide.

As the couple never shied away from breaking the royal tradition, their lives had been a rollercoaster ride.

But the latest updates surrounding the Sussexes could be more captivating than ever before.

According to reports, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wanted to live in Windsor Castle after they got married, but Queen Elizabeth II thought it be 'inappropriate' and 'politely but firmly suggested' that they take over Frogmore Cottage instead.

The cottage is located in the Windsor Estate and was given to them as a wedding gift. The Sussexes made it their U.K. home base even after they relocated to the U.S. in early 2020 until King Charles returned the property to the Crown.

But before leaving for the United States, Frogmore had been extensively renovated and refurbished, allowing for a comfortable home to raise their son, Archie, during their final year in the UK.

Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, moved to Frogmore but later lived in Ivy Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace and Portugal, where they also lived part-time for Jack’s work.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl spoke to Lady Elizabeth Anson (who passed away in 2020) once regarding this matter. 'The cottage was a big deal,' said Lady Anson, as mentioned in Nicholl’s book, The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown.

‘The Queen’s entrance into the gardens is right next to their cottage. It is essentially her backyard, her solitude, and her privacy. She was giving that up in gifting Harry and Meghan Frogmore Cottage. We all thought it was very big of her. She said, “I hope they’ll respect it.”’

The Prince and Princess of Wales now live on the Windsor Estate, particularly at Adelaide Cottage, which they moved shortly into before the late Queen died on September 8, 2022.

Meanwhile, despite being divorced for 27 years, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson live together in the Royal Lodge, also located on the Windsor Estate.

Prince Harry and Meghan previously lived in Nottingham Cottage on the grounds at Kensington Palace (often called 'KP' for short), where Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, also lived post-marriage to King Charles.

In the couple’s six-part series Harry & Meghan, Meghan said, 'Kensington Palace sounds very regal, of course it does.’

'It says “palace” in the name. But Nottingham Cottage was so small,’ she added.

Prince Harry agreed and added, 'The whole thing is on a slight lean, [with] really low ceilings. So, I don’t know who was there before, but they must have been very short.'

Harry and Meghan have since moved on to California in July 2020 and set up a home in a $14 million estate located in Montecito.

While the couple could have asked King Charles for financial assistance, they wanted to buy their new home independently. Reports said that ‘Harry could’ve asked Charles to contribute toward the cost of the house, but he chose not to.’

They added, ‘Getting his dad financially involved would result in the royals having control over him. It would mean going backwards.’

Prince Harry and Meghan’s journey as a royal couple had always been the talk of the town. In a previous story, rumours spread that they were taking time apart to work on their relationship during challenging times.

However, the couple spoke about this issue in their defence. Read more about the story here.

If the Queen gave Harry and Megan Frogmore cottage as a wedding gift 🎁 how can The Crown or Charles take it from them
I imagine that there would be a clause based on all properties & key items belonging to “active royals” as it’s all part of the crowns estate & must remain in tact. All benefits are forfeited if someone chooses to leave.
Look at the last Kings abdication..

In my opinion Harry and Megan can live in America and stay the hell away from England. They are selfish and ungrateful and they don’t deserve anything from King Charles. King Charles has extended the olive branch once too often.

I doubt that anything would please Meghan. She has ruined her relationship with her own family and now Harry had been drawn into her selfish ways and ruined his family relationships. The sooner Harry gets away from her the better off he will be - but I think he loves his children too much.

when they were dumped by one or more of the streaming services with commentary about laziness being the primary reason (maybe lack of interest also paid a part) they left out the other descriptors, entitled, full of self importance, lack of any tangible talents outside of the roles, he in particular was fortunate to be part of. Maybe also left out questionable lineage. Like so many Americans, she has a false perception of what a modern monarchy is about and can do. Expecting a title to be automatically bestowed on her childrens was a classic example of lack of knowledge about the institution that she clearly thought was going to be a disney fairytale.

I mean, who cares about Harry and Meghan, personally I am sick of seeing information about them in the media. She wrecked her Relationship with Father and Sister and now it is going the same way with the Royal Family..They have traditions to uphold, which have gone on for centuries, and now Meghan is encouraging Harry together to wreck his family..it is a pity he can’t see what is going on.
