Product Safety Australia renews warning over previously recalled coolers

As we age, we become more aware of the importance of our safety and that of our families.

Home products should always be held to a high standard.

That's why a recent safety alert could affect your grandchildren and the entire family.

Product Safety Australia (PSA) issued another recall for Yeti Australia's range of coolers.

The recall followed the news of a child in the United States who recently swallowed a magnet from a Yeti Australia cooler.

Among the recalled items were Yeti Australia's Hopper M20 Soft Backpack Cooler, Hopper M30 1.0 Tote Cooler, Hopper M30 2.0 Tote Cooler, and the Sidekick Dry Gear Case.

Yeti Australia items were previously recalled in May 2023, but the recent incident reignited concerns.

'The magnet-lined closures of these products can fail and may cause the magnets to be released from the closure,' the recall notice read.

This defect could be a choking hazard to young children.

If ingested, these magnets could attract each other through intestine walls or other digestive tissues, which could cause severe internal injuries or death.

PSA urged the owners of the recalled Yeti Australia products to stop using them immediately.

Owners can return the product to the place of purchase for a refund or credit note.

Alternatively, owners can also contact Yeti directly for a cash refund or a gift card.

Yeti also provided a hotline—1800 960 859—available from 8 am to 5 pm for further assistance.

Shoppers could also send an email about the recall to [email protected].

Product recalls should not be taken lightly.

They are issued for the safety of consumers, and it's essential to heed these warnings.

Remember, safety is paramount, and staying informed is the first step in protecting our loved ones.

Let's all do our part to keep our families safe from hidden dangers in everyday items.

Jesus I am getting sick of pampering every child for everything. Swallow batteries ??. When I was a kid I played with marbles and could have swallowed one, did I NO. How many kids swallow batteries ?? This action of withdrawing a safe product could send the company to the wall. More lost jobs etc. ACCIDENTS have always happen and will always happen in the future. Stop being SO precious.

And we had boiled lollies round like marbles. Nowadays we don't often hear 'no' and 'don't touch' from parents. Children don't learn boundaries.

I’d rather be precious than have one of my great grandchildren swallow something choke and maybe die! I hope SDC keeps up the warnings thanks

I own a Yeti insulated drinking tumbler, it has a magnetic slide to close the drinking hole. That magnet is removable and it is a very strong magnet, will they be recalled because of the magnet.
Jeez, glad I don't have a steel plate in my head.
You'll be in strife if you need to change your mind!

Marbles and boiled lollie's ,dont burn holes in the lining of your stomach. Accidents can be avoided by not using this item or making the battery more secure.
I was thinking that parents shouldn't put those items within reach of children, and set boundaries. People of all ages choke on food/drink, but we hope they're not alone if this happens.

Kids can still choke on Smarties, Skittles and Darrel Lea Bullets and those yummy chocolate balls of different flavours, mint is mine and jaffa and (ENOUGH)!
You can never wrap every child in cotton wool to keep them safe from everything that could hurt them. This is how we and our children learn. However, there is a difference between a child accessing and swallowing small magnets and button batteries versus skittles and smarties. Yes, a child can choke on any small object, but if we can at least reduce the risk of a child easily accessing small objects, like magnets and button batteries from all of these modern manufactured products. Then perhaps we can keep small children a little safer.

How many kiddies have been affected by burn holes in the lining ? People have had burnt linings by drinking water that is too hot. Ban water ?
