Princess Anne just turned 75—and she’s busier than ever!

Princess Anne’s 75th birthday is just around the corner—and the Royal Family has marked the milestone by revealing some of her most remarkable, and sometimes surprising, life moments.

From her historic sporting achievements to her unexpected driving credentials, these details offer a rare glimpse behind the formal titles.

And with her reputation as the hardest-working royal, the list serves as a reminder of why she holds such a unique place in the public’s heart.

One of the first facts shared was that Princess Anne was born Princess Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise at Clarence House on 15 August 1950—VJ Day—at 11:50 am.

A black-and-white photograph accompanied the detail, showing the late Queen Elizabeth holding her newborn daughter.

In 1959, Anne joined the 1st Buckingham Palace Company of Brownies and Guides, a group first created for her mother, then Princess Elizabeth, in 1937 and reinstated for her.

Her charitable work was also highlighted, with the Princess Royal supporting over 399 charities, organisations, and military regiments in the UK and beyond.

In sport, Anne made history in 1976 as the first member of the British Royal Family to compete in an Olympic Games, representing the British Equestrian team at the Montreal Games.

She was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 by President Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia for her work as President of Save the Children over two decades.

The Royal Family also noted that in 1994, The Queen appointed her to the Order of the Garter—but Anne requested to be installed as Royal Knight of the Order rather than a lady.

She was the first royal to appear as a contestant on the BBC quiz show A Question of Sport.

Known for her relentless work ethic, she has completed 562 overseas visits and travelled to every continent.

Since June 1986, she has been Patron of the Scottish Rugby Union, regularly attending matches and visiting training sessions.

She also became the first member of her family to hold a HGV licence, and has driven a double-decker London bus and a police car.

Her military connections include serving as Colonel-in-Chief of more than 20 British and Commonwealth regiments.

The final fact shared showed Anne wearing her trademark Team GB sunglasses, which she has sported at major events including the London 2012 Olympics and Royal Ascot in 2021.

Her birthday celebrations came as she visited Ireland for a milestone event at the 150th Dublin Horse Show.

Anne began the day with a formal welcome at Áras an Uachtaráin from President Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina—a symbolic meeting as he nears the end of his second and final term.

Wearing a green blazer with an emerald skirt in a nod to the Emerald Isle, she completed her look with black accessories.

At the Royal Dublin Society, she opened the 150th Dublin Horse Show, toured a special exhibition, and met representatives from Festina Lente, a charity providing equine-assisted therapy, as well as the Riding for the Disabled Association Ireland.

As a former Olympic equestrian, she also presented rosettes to the winners of the Small Hunters (Class 20) competition.

British Ambassador to Ireland Paul Johnston praised the visit, noting that it reflected her lifelong interest in equestrianism and charitable work.

Anne’s appearance in Dublin formed part of a busy summer schedule, underscoring her enduring dedication to public service.

Her history of engagements in Ireland stretches back decades, including a 2004 visit to the Áras and attending Six Nations games as Scottish Rugby Union patron.

While Princess Anne’s 75th birthday has been marked with touching tributes and fascinating facts, she’s also been honoured in a very special way.

It’s a keepsake that not only celebrates her milestone but also captures a piece of royal history for collectors and admirers alike.
