Popular vehicle and medicine brand urgently recalled over safety concerns

In our daily lives, we often take for granted the safety of the products we use.

But sometimes, these everyday items can come with hidden risks that put us in danger. When a safety issue is uncovered, it’s crucial to stay informed to protect yourself and your loved ones.

With recalls being announced regularly, knowing what products to watch for and how to respond is more important than ever. Read on.

Porsche issued a recall for its electric Taycan models after identifying a manufacturing defect that could lead to vehicle fires.

‘Due to a manufacturing issue, the cell modules installed in the high-voltage battery may be defective,’ the company stated in its recall notice.

‘A short circuit could cause a thermal overload and result in a vehicle fire over time’.

‘The potential defect can be determined by Porsche using over-the-air data analysis of affected vehicles until the high-voltage battery self-checking software is installed.’

‘A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.’

The recall covered a total of 1,405 Taycan vehicles built between 2019 and 2024, detailed across two separate recall notices.

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) lists and recall notices can be found here and here.

Porsche Australia is informing owners of affected vehicles via written communication, advising them to schedule an initial check and prepare for future software installation.

The company committed to continued monitoring of impacted vehicles through over-the-air data analysis.

Should any abnormalities arise, Porsche planned to contact owners to arrange free replacement of faulty battery modules.

While Porsche addressed safety concerns surrounding its electric vehicles, a different recall emerged in the health and wellness sector, this time involving tampered medicines.

Caruso's Natural Health recalled several batches of its over-the-counter medicines following suspected tampering incidents.

Products containing Caruso's Wee Less and Bloat Eze capsules, along with Ashwagandha 7500 tablets, were among those affected.

According to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), suspicious unknown capsules differing in appearance from the usual products had been found in certain batches.

‘From a preliminary investigation, it appears that the unknown capsules could contain cocoa powder and probiotics,’ the TGA noted.

‘As the potential for these unknown capsules to cause harm cannot be ruled out, Caruso's Natural Health Pty Ltd has decided to recall the affected batches and is currently investigating the problem further.’

The recall targeted specific batch numbers: Q01661 for Wee Less, Q01516 and Q01518 for Bloat Eze, and Q01687 for Ashwagandha 7500.

Customers who purchased these batches were advised not to use them and to consult a doctor if concerned.

While the exact nature and origin of the unknown capsules remained undetermined, the company acted swiftly to mitigate potential risks to consumers and continued to investigate the matter further.

This comes after a popular steak brand facing health risk concerns due to an undeclared gluten.

It highlighted potential safety issues that could impact consumers nationwide, as they pose a risk to those with gluten allergies or intolerances.

The recall affects products with the best-before date of 30/10/2027 and batch number 504694.
