In the world of automobiles, safety is paramount.
However, even the most reputable car manufacturers can sometimes overlook potential hazards during the production process.
Recently, two major car brands, Mazda and Great Wall Motor Company Limited (GWM), have issued urgent recall notices for specific models due to manufacturing issues that could potentially lead to serious injury or even death.
Mazda Australia has issued a recall for 8,936 units of its BT-50 ute.
While this is a popular choice among Aussies for its performance and reliability, a manufacturing issue has been identified that could lead to a fuel leak.
In the presence of an external ignition source, this could result in a vehicle fire.
The problem lies in the fuel hose, which may chafe against the engine oil level bracket and become damaged.
'If this occurs, fuel may leak in the presence of an external ignition source resulting in a vehicle fire,' the recall notice read.
This issue affects the current TF-generation versions of the Mazda BT-50 with the larger 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine produced between 2021 and 2023.
If you own one of these vehicles, you are urged to contact Mazda immediately on 1800 034 411 or email them at [email protected]. The company has assured that the fuel hose will be replaced at no charge to the customer.

On the other hand, Great Wall Motor Company Limited has also issued an urgent recall notice for its GWM ORA 2023 model.
This recall affects 1,659 units and includes all variants within this model of car.
'Due to a programming issue, if the operator removes the charging cable without cancelling the charge, an electrical arc between the charging plug and the vehicle may occur,' the recall notice read.
'If an electrical arc comes into contact with the operator or bystanders, it will increase the risk of serious injury or death.'
Affected customers will be contacted by GWM in writing and will be requested to set an appointment with their preferred GWM Dealer, who will then update the vehicle software at no cost.
