Popular lolly brand announces twist to sweet treats

A sweet treat won’t hurt once in a while—after all, it’s important to enjoy the pleasures life can give, especially food.

However, one company wants to take it to the next level and is committed to delivering a healthier snacking experience.

A beloved brand known for its range of jelly lollies just rolled out a significant change that will get tongues wagging—and perhaps tasting a little differently.

The Natural Confectionery Company has introduced a 'healthier' option to its lolly lineup.

Starting Wednesday, April 3, sweet tooths can indulge in a new selection of lollies that claim to contain 50 per cent less sugar than the typical jelly lollies Aussies have come to know and love.

This is an eye-catching reduction for anyone looking to enjoy sweets with more mindfulness towards their sugar intake.

The revamped treats will be available at Coles and Woolworths in two flavours for $5: Berry Wave and Tropical Blast.

These new offerings are not just about reduced sugar content; they also come with a 4.5 Health Star Rating, a system used in Australia to provide convenient nutritional information at a glance.

Moreover, these lollies are free from artificial colours, flavours, or sweeteners, aligning with a more natural approach to snacking.

Amy Richards, Senior Marketing Manager for Candy ANZ for Mondelēz International, expressed her enthusiasm as they ‘redefine the snacking experience’.

'With consumers becoming more focused on health and well-being, The Natural Confectionery Co.'s new range provides a treat which meets the growing demands for reduced sugar snacking options, while still delivering the taste and flavours that Aussies expect,' she shared.

The Natural Confectionery Co. has been a staple in Australian households since its launch in 1997.

Owned by Mondelēz International, the brand has become synonymous with its iconic jelly lollies, such as the classic Snakes, Party Mix, Sour Squirms, and Dinosaurs.

These treats have been a part of countless childhood memories and continue to be a favourite for people of all ages.

This latest initiative by The Natural Confectionery Company shows a broader trend in the food industry, where companies are increasingly innovating to provide healthier alternatives to traditional products.

Finding ways to enjoy sweets guilt-free is always a welcome development.

It's a response to a more informed and health-conscious consumer base that is looking for ways to enjoy their favourite treats while being mindful of their dietary choices.

I tried these a while ago and I didn’t like them. They seemed hard and really sticky, I hope this is a new recipe. The ones I like are no sugar and called Funday. They taste the most like normal lollies in all the ones I’ve tried

Except they are not gluten free . In this day & age a simple switch from wheat starch to corn starch surely is possible so as those people with coeliac disease can enjoy them . This is why I never buy them not even for the grandchildren 🙃
