In a delightful twist of royal charm and wit, Queen Mary of Denmark, the Australian-born royal, recently left a team of police officers at Nuuk airport in Greenland blushing and chuckling after a playful exchange that showcased her renowned sense of humour.

The incident unfolded as the Queen, accompanied by her husband, King Frederik, was greeted by the officers and their sniffer dogs, who were on duty to ensure the safety of the visiting dignitaries.


With a twinkle in her eye and a cheeky smile, Queen Mary complimented the officers in fluent Danish, saying, 'How handsome you are!'

The policemen, caught off guard by the Queen's unexpected flattery, could only shuffle awkwardly and express their gratitude for the praise.


However, the Queen quickly clarified, bringing the house down: 'So... [are] the dogs.'

Realizing the playful misdirection, the officers erupted into laughter, releasing the tension of the moment with a collective sigh of relief.
