Phone chargers sold at Officeworks urgently recalled due to serious risks

Aussies, heads-up: another recall has been announced.

Officeworks, a leading retail chain, has pulled several phone chargers from its shelves due to concerns that they could lead to electrocution.

The products in question include the Comsol brand Keji USB dual port wall charger 2.4A, Comsol 20W USB-C Wall Charger, and Comsol dual port USB wall charger 3.4A/17W.

These chargers are part of the consumer electrical accessories supplied by Comsol Pty Ltd.

It has been found that the wall plug component may snap from the body of the chargers, exposing users to live wires that carry a significant risk of electric shock or even fatal electrocution.

This defect not only jeopardises the safety of the device but also poses a direct threat to the user’s safety.

For users who might not be familiar with the technical aspects, it's critical to identify the affected models for safety reasons.

The problematic model numbers are as follows:

These numbers can usually be located near the electric prongs of the power plug.

Officeworks has advised consumers to cease use of these chargers immediately to prevent any incidents.

The products can be returned to any Officeworks store nationwide, where a full refund will be provided.

For more information, customers may contact Officeworks at 1300 633 423 or visit their website.

In similar news, Comsol laptop chargers were recalled for the same issue last December.

The affected chargers were sold in Officeworks between February 2021 and September 2023.
