We all want to look our best, and one way to do this is to show off a naturally clean set of pearly white teeth that give us the confidence to talk and smile freely.
However, there are also a number of reasons out there why our teeth may turn yellow or get stained. Some of these we can prevent, such as our diet and lifestyle choices; others we can’t – like genes, the thickness of our tooth enamel, and getting older.
And even though the recent beauty trends are saying that white teeth look more attractive, it doesn’t mean that they are healthier and in better condition than yellowed ones.
In fact, experts are saying that it is perfectly natural to have yellow teeth and this is not necessarily a sign of poor oral health. Turns out, as we get older, our enamel starts to thin and break down. Meaning, the inner part of the tooth starts to show through, making the teeth appear more yellow or creamy.
So, members, there is no need to worry if your teeth aren’t perfectly white! After all, it’s much more important to maintain good oral hygiene.

Maintaining good oral hygiene is the most important thing for healthy-looking teeth. Regular brushing and flossing, paired with mouthwash, are key to good oral health. Experts recommend using toothpaste with whitening ingredients such as activated charcoal to remove stains more effectively.
But if you’re looking for a more natural option, one user on TikTok shared a dentist-approved “magic” teeth whitening hack that uses toothpaste made from fruits and a household item.
Armen Adamjan, who goes by the username @creative_explained on TikTok, shared that he uses a mixture of cucumbers, kiwis, and a little bit of baking soda, as a toothpaste to naturally whiten his teeth.
By mixing the three ingredients together in a blender, he’s making use of the calcium from kiwis, the antibacterial properties of cucumber, and the abrasiveness of baking soda. Plus, the kiwi and cucumber both have acids that can dissolve and remove surface stains, making teeth whiter.
And while this “hack” may seem like it could easily fall into the “too good to be true” category, dentist Dr Joseph Field, DDS says it can be effective – but no one should expect staggering results.
He also advises against using the homemade paste every day as it may cause your tooth enamel to erode. Once or twice a week should be good enough.
Of course, not every beauty, skincare, or dental hack found on social media is effective, or even safe! We advise our members that it's always best to check with their doctor before trying something new.
