Parents upset over scented scissors marketed to children

A new product called Sniffs by Westcott has stirred up controversy among parents. These are children's safety scissors that come with scented handles, smelling like artificially enhanced oranges and blueberries.

While the product seems like a playful twist on classroom tools, many are concerned that the enticing scents encourage children to put the scissors near their faces, increasing the risk of accidental injury.

Despite their blunt tips, these scissors are still sharp enough to cause harm, especially when used unsupervised. Critics argue that combining a tool with inherently dangerous potential and an alluring scent sends a confusing message to kids about safety.

As amusing as 'scented scissors' might sound, many parents believe safety should come before novelty when designing tools for children.
