Marriage proposals are one of the most memorable things that can happen in our lives. They're a time when we're feeling incredibly vulnerable and exposed, and yet also incredibly loved and cherished. It's no wonder that so many of us remember every single detail of how our proposals went down.
For some of us, the proposal is a total surprise. Our partners have planned everything out perfectly, and we're left feeling totally caught off guard (in the best possible way).
For others, we may have had a sneaking suspicion that a proposal was coming, and so the moment is all the more special for being exactly what we expected.
Regardless, we're sure many of our members experienced planning or getting proposed to and it's always a relief when things go smoothly and the engagement gets finalised.
While not all proposals lead to a happy ending (e.g. someone rejecting the marriage offer), some become memorable for all the wrong reasons...
Such has been the story of one Brisbane father who was compelled to jump into the ocean after losing the engagement ring mid-proposal.
Soon-to-be groom Luke Aukuso made the unfortunate choice to involve his daughter Harpie in the momentous occasion on a charming Brisbane pier.
A video captured the crucial moment when he proposes to his partner and the little girl starts to open the ring box.

'Look at mummy,' Luke says in the video.
The beautiful scene transforms in a split second as the ring falls from the box as the three family members look on in astonishment.
The trio scream: 'Arghh, oh no!'
As the diamond ring tumbles through the crevices and into the water below, the startled father frantically clings to the pier.
He rushes into action, kicking off his thongs and appearing to dive into the water below as he watches the unquestionably expensive piece of jewellery plummet into the depths.
The person behind the camera yells at Luke and tells him that he 'can’t jump, it’s too shallow’.

Fortunately, Luke was able to salvage the diamond ring from being lost forever, according to his fiancée Stephanie.
She shared: 'It was a 6m jump into about 1m of water on low tide, adrenaline hit him hard. Everything turned out perfect.'

it didn’t matter I would have said yes where ever it happened, I was 15 my wonderful husband passed in 2013 we were very happy together. BTW I’m now 75
