Nutrition coach shares recipe for ‘fake-away’ McChicken burger using ALDI products

Who doesn't love a good McDonald's McChicken burger?

But what if you could recreate this fast-food favourite at home, using budget-friendly ingredients from ALDI, and cut down on the calories at the same time?

Nutrition coach Bec Hardgrave has done just that, and she's sharing her secret recipe with everyone.

Bec's 'fake-away' McChicken burger is not only easy to make, but it also contains just 380 calories per serving, making it a healthier alternative to the original.

'These are super quick and easy to make. I just chucked the chicken in the air fryer, assembled the burgers, and there you go,' she said in her video online.

'It's the perfect thing when you feel like Macca's, you have to try these.'

To make these guilt-free burgers, Bec used just four ingredients, all of which she purchased from ALDI.

She started with ALDI's Farmwood Chicken Breast Schnitzels, which cost $4.99 per four-pack. She then added four sesame seed brioche burger buns to her shopping basket.

To give the burgers their classic McChicken taste, Bec also picked up a bottle of Colway Light Squeezy Mayonnaise and a bag of shredded iceberg lettuce for $1.99.

She cooked the chicken schnitzels in the air fryer until they were crispy, then layered them on the burger buns with a small handful of lettuce and a squeeze of mayonnaise.

Each burger contains 18.2 grams of protein, 11.9 grams of fat, and 48 grams of carbohydrates, making it a balanced meal option.

Her video quickly caught the attention of foodies eager to try the Macca's dupe for themselves.

'My fave fake-away,' one woman commented.

'Chuck the buns in the air fryer next time. Winner!' another home cook suggested.

'I do it all the time with tomato lettuce, cheese, red onion, barbecue sauce or sweet chilli and vegan mayo,' another added.

Bec also shared another Macca’s secret with her followers. She created a ‘mini’ version of Big Mac’s classic taste while reducing the calorie count and the cost.

380 calories is pretty much equivalent to an average nutritious full Lite N Easy meal. Not such a good deal really.

Like the sound of this & a packet of 4 chicken breasts is all we need for a family meal with no leftovers to put into the freezer.

Thanks Bec. Have already spread the word to the cook.
