New footy snack divides fans on social media: Must-try or hard pass?

The internet is buzzing over the latest viral food sensation: the 'pizzadog'.

This unique culinary creation, which combines pizza and a hot dog into one portable snack, has sharply divided opinions online.

Footy fans were introduced to the pizzadog when a photo of the item sold at Nottingham Forest's City Ground stadium went viral after being shared on social media.

The pizzadog consists of a narrow slice of Margherita pizza topped with a full-sized frankfurter sausage added lengthwise down the middle.

Offered by the stadium's Working Man's Kitchen vendor, it represents the kind of indulgent fusion food that is becoming popular at sporting events worldwide.

But not everyone is convinced by this odd pizza-sausage matrimony…

The initial social media post showing the £7 (AU$13.50) pizzadog racked up over 18,000 likes and thousands of comments, perfectly encapsulating the fierce debate around this new creation.

While some were drooling over the prospect of the ultimate pizza-meets-hot-dog combo, others were appalled.

'I'll pay double,' exclaimed one eager fan, with another agreeing and commenting, ‘I’ll take two!’

‘That is a combo I did not know I needed…’ said a third.

'Not a pizza, not a hot dog. Get in the bin,' fired back a harsh critic.

Another commented, ‘Wow, that pizza looks so good. Shame about the disgusting sausage in the middle?’

‘Science has gone too far,’ added a third, with a fourth chiming in: ‘This has to be some type of food crime.’

A local even reposted the photo and said, ‘Sorry about this one on behalf of everyone here…’
