Musical Scam
Last night I got a message on Instagram from someone claiming to work for a music group that I'm interested in, saying that they'd noticed I liked a lot of their posts, and that they wanted to know more about me. When I questioned this, they sent me a screen shot of a "conversation" with the group's leader, and him saying something about a Meet'n'Greet tours fan card. Everything about this seemed wrong to me, mainly because that group's leader is a personal friend and he would have told me if they were touring in Australia, also the screenshot of the "conversation" with "him" showed a response so utterly out of character for him it was laughable, and she didn't know the most basic thing about him when I deliberately got the name of his wife wrong and misidentified her as his girlfriend. When I spoke to him about it, he said there's a lot of this sort of thing going on. So the takehome here is that you're not even safe if you want to like someone's music. Be careful, and don't take the bait on a "Meet'n'Greet" card. It's all a big lie.
