Mum's unusual Aussie food combo goes viral – would you give it a, um… go?

Aussie mum, Aimee, has become an internet sensation on TikTok thanks to her 'unusual' food taste tests and helpful kid tips. And now she's back with an extremely 'unusual' finger-food snack that has taken the internet by storm.

Apparently, one pack of Smith's Salt & Vinegar chips, half a Bakers Delight iced pink finger bun, and a generous spread of butter can be combined to make the perfect snack!

And don't even mention the fact that they're put inside a finger bun. Yes, folks, salt and vinegar chips inside a finger bun with butter – this is the recipe she recommended to her followers.

The mum purchased one iced pink finger bun and sliced it in half before buttering the slices and filling them up with salt and vinegar chips.

When Aimee finally takes her first bite of the snack, she is left stunned and speechless. So, is this recipe really that good? We tried it for ourselves... find out what we thought here.

But first, what did the internet think?

The response from Aimee's followers was overwhelming, and thousands of them rushed to the comments section of her video to express their excitement for the new snack.

However, several users who are currently unable to purchase Bakers Delight products lamented their 'bad luck'.

One woman commented, 'Why are you showing me this when I'm 25 weeks pregnant with no Bakers Delight near me?'

Meanwhile, a mum who claimed that she's not a fan of adding salt and vinegar chips in her food admitted that she liked the unique combo in Aimee's recipe.

'Chips in a roll is superior, I love it so much,' she admitted.

Other users suggested that Aimee should try other food items with the potato chips. 'Add to mashed potatoes or even mashed cauliflower,' suggested one user.

While it may seem strange at first, everyone's talking about it. And we can't help but admit that the combination may actually be pretty tasty...

We were wondering if this might be the first time someone has combined salt and vinegar chips with a finger bun, but apparently, this has been a favourite snack of many for quite a while now. So, have any of you folks tried this recipe before? What did you think of it? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!

3. Crispy Oven-Baked Sweet Potato Salt and Vinegar Chips - make sure to check out the below recipe because we think this could actually be really good?

Ingredients
2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled
1/3 cup malt vinegar
2 teaspoons salt

Method:
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Line 2 large baking sheets with aluminium foil. Coat generously with nonstick cooking spray / oil.
  2. Thinly slice sweet potatoes into round discs. Place all of the potato discs in a large resealable plastic bag. Add malt vinegar, seal and shake to coat. Allow to rest at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  3. Discard liquid from bag. Arrange potato discs in a single layer on prepared baking sheets. Sprinkle the chips with salt and coat with cooking spray. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven and flip potato discs. Sprinkle with additional salt. Bake for another 10-15 minutes, until the chips are crispy. Remove from the oven and place chips on a wire rack to cool.
  5. Enjoy!

1959, fresh off the train, to our late great grandma's home in Uralla. Local grocery shut, pantry empty & fridge too . Great Aunt opened her handbag & brought out a loaf of white bread, a pat of butter & a couple of packets of potato crisps. Quite the feast we had. All this time & every so often I still get the urge, the only time I buy white bread, thank goodness for the half loaf.

I love butter and hot chips in bread……….bun or any other bread!!
It’s so yummy 😋😋 But no salt and vinegar 😝
We used to have it when we were kids and continued to have it as we grew up.

Hot chips on white bread, YUM also love a packet of chicken chips on white bread. Was a staple growing up, my kids all eat this still as do my grandchildren now.
My dad never ate ice cream without a slice of bread with honey on it so I guess everyone has different tastes, it's what makes the world go round.

One of my favourite guilty pleasures is salt and vinegar chips dipped in ice cream, any flavour but caramel or toffee is really good. By far the best though is crème brûlée ice cream.
