Mum shares an unusual way of rinsing her vegetables, and not everyone is impressed

How do you wash your vegetables? Are you like most people who clean their fruit and veggies under the tap or by soaking them in the sink? Well, this ‘super mum’ is different.

How does she wash her fruits and veggies, you might ask? This may seem strange, but she washes them in the dishwasher! Not only does she use the dishwasher to clean her fruit and veggies, but she also uses it to clean everything from sponges to toys.

Carolina McCauley, well-known for her housekeeping hacks, has divided the internet after saying that people should be using their dishwashers to clean everything from toys to fruit and vegetables.

But even some of her most loyal fans believe her recent video goes too far.

In the video, the Perth-based mum loads toys, sponges, and vegetables in her dishwasher.

‘They come out squeaky clean,’ she revealed, showing off a shining piece of celery.

Many people, however, are skeptical of the hack, believing that a dishwasher full of apples, carrots, zucchinis, and children's toys is absurd.

‘No, ma’am. Love your page, but we are not putting food in the dishwasher,’ one woman said.

Some even criticised Carolina for running out of content to post.

‘When people run out of content to post. It’s also concerning as there are people who are so clueless or simpleminded that they might actually follow this blindly,’ said one commenter.

While one woman is quick to point out that her dishwasher cleans at over 100C, which would ruin most fruit and vegetables.

‘We are supposed to be saving the environment, and here you are running an empty dishwasher for likes,’ one woman said.

However, some have argued that putting vegetables through a cleaning cycle wasn’t as far-fetched as it appeared.

‘A lot of restaurants throw their potatoes for baking through the dishwasher to wash them before baking,’ one woman claimed.

The majority of people agreed that they prefer rinsing their vegetables under running water or soaking them in their sink.

Anything I peel just gets a quick rinse under the tap, so that covers spuds, pumpkin, any other root vegie etc. Why would you wash a Cauli for goodness sake you strip off the leaves and have a nice white vege ready to boil, steam or roast.. no germs survive that! :)
