During the renovation, the family were left with no choice but to use their laundry room as a temporary kitchen as the original kitchen had to be demolished and built from scratch.

“We connected the dishwasher to the (cold) laundry tap with a y-piece from Bunnings,” Rhiannon wrote on her Facebook post.

“Whatever I didn't think I'd use, I boxed up. The fridge, unfortunately, had to stay outside,”

This was the couple’s debut in home renovation, so they made sure to be cautious about their expenses.

Rhiannon saved money by buying groceries in bulk. She cooked their meals at her mum's house, stored them in the freezer, and microwaved them later on.

“We were being price-conscious, so we kept a very similar layout to keep services in the same spot,” Rhiannon detailed.

“We reduced the stone to 20 millimetres and chose a design from the ‘basics’ range and price matched appliances to get cheaper.”

They also hired local professional tradesmen to help them with the transformation as the cabinets and tiles had to be removed.

While the kitchen looks stunning, it did cost them a fortune – amounting to a whopping total of $40,000, including brand new appliances such as a fridge and $2500 oven.

The mum of three’s Facebook post amassed the approval of thousands online who hailed the upgrade as 'incredible' and 'beautiful'.

“This looks amazing!!! Great job… Well worth the wait, I bet!” one user praised.

“I don’t usually like black kitchens but I think you’ve changed my mind! This is stunning!” another chimed.
