Mum is horrified by a strange object in her rental property - Can you guess what it is?

Weird things happen to everyone, but when you encounter something strange in your new home, it can be downright unsettling. Whether it's a strange noise coming from the attic or a weird stain on the carpet, encountering the unknown in your new home can be a confusing (and scary) experience.

Take, for example, this one woman's experience when she discovered two objects in the shape of houses fastened to a wall in her new apartment.

Ruth, who took to Facebook to share some photographs of her weird find in her new home, said that she was perplexed when she first saw the objects.

'I just moved into a new house. The previous owners were VERY organised (far more so than me!) They had places and systems and nooks for everything,' she wrote in a well-known Australian Facebook group in an attempt to identify the objects.

'We can't work out what some of the things they installed are for.'

Ruth described the identical pieces as 'small plastic house-shaped' items stuck to the fridge's side wall.

Many people in the comments were quick to assume that the object was either a holder for a dog lead or a broom and umbrella, but both were wrong.

Another person said the items are key holders that formerly had two birds perched inside the little houses after doing some research.

When the use of the objects was revealed, several users questioned why the previous tenants only took the bird key holders and not the full wall device.

'There aren't any birds among the keys they left behind,' she added.

She was also perplexed by a strange object hidden behind one of the cabinets in the kitchen, describing it as a 'green flat thing with possibly some kind of blade or metal on one side.'

Many people recognised exactly what the item was and what it was used for.

Ruth was informed by the members of the group that the item is a jar or can lid opener and that identical products are still available online.

She wrote: 'Thank you!!! Now I just have to figure out how it works.'

It’s not surprising that someone would feel concerned when they encounter something unidentifiable. But as this article proves, most of the time, these weird things are usually harmless and can be easily explained. So take a deep breath and relax. Everything will be alright and the internet will have your answer.

The house objects were probably glued to the wall and were left to avoid damaging the wall trying to remove them.

Not actually allowed to do that as most leases are strict on you removing everything you own or installed in the house so that it is in exactly the same condition as it was when you moved in.
I have even been called back to remove a beautiful pot plant from the garden from a previous rental. It was too big for our new place so I offered it to the neighbours who were delighted to have as I’m sure future tenants at our old house would also have been.

We think they may be cord plug holders, but we're not totally convinced. What would you need 4 holes?
