Mum asks how to 'spruce up' the ICONIC Freddo ice cream cake, receives over a hundred responses from fellow cake lovers

For Aussie children, having a Freddo Frog ice cream cake for at least one of their birthdays has been a long-standing tradition for many years now.

However, with its adorable appearance and brilliant pastel colours, some parents believe that they are more suitable for younger children rather than older ones.

That is why this one mum took to Facebook to seek recommendations on how to make the cake more acceptable for her daughter's age.

"Any suggestions on how to spruce this Freddo ice cream cake to look a bit more teenager-ish and not look too baby-ish?" she wrote on her Facebook post.

"Was wondering if I can stack two, one on top of each other, to give it a bit more of a wow factor."

Of course, fellow Aussie mums on Facebook came through and gave a flurry of responses, with some even admitting that they too love the classic ice cream cake.

Others said that the quickest and most straightforward approach to make the cake match the occasion is to use a fancy cake topper and cover the cake with lollies, with others sharing photos of cakes bordered in chocolate with lollies spread all over the top.

"I just added some ribbon around it and a happy birthday sign on top. You could also place some artificial flowers or something on top if you like that look," suggested another fellow parent.

Another mother described how she drizzled chocolate on top of her Freddo cake and sprinkled meringue pops on top to give her daughter's special day a 'glow up'.

On the other hand, other parents questioned why the mum would need to make the iconic treat any more special than it already is.

"The whole point of this cake is that it's fun. Don't change it one bit," wrote one woman, adding: "My friend in high school said this was the only cake anyone in her family wanted, even to this day, all in their 20's, they only want the Freddo ice cream cake."

More than 400 comments were left on the mum's post, mostly from ice cream cake fans and those who offered suggestions on how to make the dessert more appropriate for the occasion.

What about you, members? Do you prefer to enjoy the classic Freddo ice cream cake on its own, or do you like to spruce it up a bit on occasions?
