Movies during Covid
Being at home a lot through Covid and suffering the wasteland that is currently passing for television, I starting re-watching some of my older DVDs. Amongst them are some lesser-known gems that other film fans may have missed. I mention some of these for your consideration in case you would like to obtain them from the internet. Perhaps many of you may have other films to recommend.
"Poms" (2019), comedy about retired women chasing their dreams of cheerleading, with Diane Keaton and Jacki Weaver.
"Home" (2015), gentle animated science fiction comedy about what "home" is, with the voices of Jim Parsons ("Big Bang Theory") and Rihanna.
"Greenfingers" (2000), delightful British comedy loosely based on a true story, with Clive Owen and Helen Mirren.
"The Thirteenth Floor" (1999), science fiction thriller about virtual reality, with Craig Bierko (make sure you watch it to the last second).
"How to Steal a Million" (1966), comedy about a daughter protecting her wayward father, with Audrey Hepburn, Peter O'Toole and Charles Boyer.
"We're No Angels" (1955), classic comedy about 3 escapees trying to get off Devil's Island, with Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov, Aldo Ray, Leo G Carroll and Basil Rathbone.
"In Name Only" (1939), drama (black & white), with Cary Grant, Carole Lombard and Kay Francis.
Happy watching!
