After placing fifth in Season 15, fan favourites Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie reversed their fortunes and were crowned the winners of The Block Fans v Faves for 2021 on Sunday night.
Mitch Edwards and Mark McKiek said they were in “total shock” after their auction. Photo by David Cook.
The pair explained how the prize money and winning title will change their lives.
“We never had expectations or even hopes for that amount. This changes our lives as we’ve got a mortgage that we can’t jump over, but with this prize, we can take a great leap at it now,” Mitch said.
Mark added, “I think we’re in shock as we stuck to our guns about what we thought a family home was about, and it was a big risk”.
Coming in second at the auction were twins Josh and Luke Packham, who sold their property for $3,930,000 with a $530,000.00 profit.
In third place, Tanya and Vito Guccione gained $400,000.01 (yep, that 1 cent was in the bid!) after selling their home for $3,800,000.01.
Kirsty Lee Akers and Jesse Anderson landed fourth, selling their property for $4,401,523.67 with a $301,523.67 profit.
And finally, coming in at fifth was Ronnie and Georgia Caceres, who sold their property for $3,696,000.00 with a $296,000.00 profit.
The Block auction results were:
- House 1, Ronnie and Georgia: Sold for $3,696,000, reserve $3.4 million, profit $296,000
