Betty White, well-known American actor has died: three weeks shy of her 100th birthday! The fates are cruel like that: Prince Charles (he never got a letter from the Queen, either!), batsmen out on 99 runs, athletes who break a world record only to discover their new record was actually beaten "yesterday", thus destroying their moment in history.
Strange we should highlight life's tiny ironies, without celebrating the accomplishments these people have made. Betty was a skilled artist, Prince Charles was a faithful and loving consort , those athletes did achieve something that no-one - sorry, only one other - had done!
