Who remembers the original microwaves? Colossal brown boxes with timber grain! my parents bought one late 70’s I think. Took them ages to feel comfortable using it! Ours did plenty of MAC and CHEESE….
I finally gave in and bought a microwave.
It was 1982, we visited a Joyce Maine store, can’t remember where exactly, but we were living in Mount Druitt, NSW. Would you believe Joyce came up and helped us buy one! I loved that huge, heavy old thing. Remembering how quickly our meals were cooked. Revolutionary!!!
Had to have new technology but a guy who was a computer nerd doing some work for us would not go into the kitchen or anywhere near it and refused to eat anything that had been cooked in it as he was afraid of the "radiation"!
I remember people wouldn’t use them at first because they were afraid of the so called radiation. I bought one in the early 80’s, but only used it for reheating. I dare say every household would have one today. How times have changed!!
