Michael Bublé shares horrifying brush with ‘certain death’
The life of a celebrity often seems like a never-ending parade of glitz and glamour, but even the stars are not immune to life's more terrifying moments.
This was starkly highlighted by the recent revelation from Michael Bublé, the popular singer known for his smooth voice and charming Christmas tunes, who shared a chilling tale of a near-death experience that could have ended his festive season—and indeed his life—quite tragically.
In a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Bublé recounted the harrowing incident after a wrap party last Christmas season.
In high spirits and mildly inebriated, he and a few friends decided to race down the beach in Churchill, Manitoba.
‘I think, [at] the moment, we’re like, “You know what we should do? We should like race down the beach.” And so me and him and another guy came running down this beach,’ Bublé shared.
Little did they know, they were unknowingly charging towards a potentially fatal encounter.
As they sprinted towards the ocean, a resident shouted at them, desperately trying to get their attention.
'A guy that lived there just started swearing, literally swearing at us and just screaming—I mean screaming b****y murder,' Bublé recalled.
The reason for the man's panic soon became terrifyingly clear.
The beach was populated with polar bears, one of the most aggressive bear species. Oblivious to the danger, Bublé and his friends had been running straight towards them.
'We didn’t realise we were running to our certain death,' the singer admitted. ‘And yes, they’re the most aggressive—but God, they’re so cuddly.’
The incident profoundly impacted Bublé, who later reflected on how close he had come to becoming a 'little polar bear lunch'.
Churchill also has the distinction of being called ‘The Polar Bear Capital of the World’—something that perhaps escaped Bublé’s notice in his merriment.
The show's host, Kelly, expressed her surprise and replied: ‘Who would’ve thought there were just polar bears—nobody ever hears that. “Oh, there’s polar bears hanging on the beach.” It just doesn’t happen.’

In a separate interview with Diary of a CEO podcast, Bublé opened up about another life-altering experience—his young son Noah's cancer diagnosis in 2016. The singer shared how the diagnosis had 'rocked his world' and forced him to reevaluate his priorities.
'My son’s cancer diagnosis rocked my world and pulled the curtain from over my eyes,' Bublé told the host, Steven Bartlett.
'That was a sledgehammer to my reality. I will never be carefree again in my life, and that’s okay. It is a privilege for me to exist. That pain, the fear, the suffering that comes with those sort of things, I guess it’s part of this beautiful life,’ he added.
Thankfully, Noah has been in remission since 2017. The experience, however, has left a lasting impact on Bublé, prompting him to reassess his life and priorities.
'When it actually happened, I was going through, I think, a crisis,' Bublé continued.
'I don’t think I had my priorities straight. My family was always the love [of my life] and I don’t think I was a terrible guy, but it was blinders: career, ambition. “How do I become the baddest, biggest, best? More ego, more power, more money?”' he said.
