Mess-free grating hack you need to know
- Replies 0
Have you ever made a complete mess of the kitchen just from grating? It’s a hassle when the ingredients get everywhere, isn’t it? But maybe you are just using your grater wrong.
Carolina McCauley, the Home Hacks Queen from Perth, shared a video on her Instagram page, showing a hack to easily collect the ingredients from grating.
“If you’re doing this then you’re using your grater wrong,” she wrote at the start of the video.

Her tip is to wrap a Ziploc or any reusable plastic bag around the grater. Then, she proceeded to grate the garlic gently against the metal surface.
“Now you can easily collect the ingredients,” as she scoops the grated garlic to a glass container.
The plastic provides a mess-free way of collecting the grated ingredient by simply sliding it off and collecting the parts for cooking. The metal grater remains untouched and you also protect your fingers from possible unwanted cuts.

McCauley’s page on Instagram has over 616,000 followers and the video garnered more than 400,000 views.
Her page features various home and kitchen hacks, and the plastic on grater is just one among many.
Another kitchen hack she came up with is the garlic peeling hack.
Whenever you need to peel several cloves of garlic and you just don’t have the time, she recommends getting a jar and putting the cloves inside. Then, shake it. Continue shaking until you notice the shells are separated from the nuggs.
