McDonald’s Australia debuts exciting new menu item following potato scallop success!

McDonald's is no stranger to coming up with treats Aussies can enjoy. Always looking to tantalise the taste buds of its customers, the company has a history of introducing unique and exciting items to its menu.

This year, it's taking things up a notch by introducing a never-before-seen item to Australia.

Following the resounding success of its potato scallops last year, Macca’s is now offering Aussies a sweet twist on this popular classic. Starting 10 January, customers can indulge in the brand new Pineapple Fritters.

'We are excited to be bringing you a new and exciting take on the ultimate snack item this year with the introduction of Pineapple Fritters,' said Samantha McLeod, Marketing Director at Macca's.

The introduction of the potato scallop last year was met with great enthusiasm, despite it coinciding with a potato shortage. At one point, competitors even accused Macca's of monopolising the potato supply.

The naming of the menu item also sparked a debate across the country as Queensland, NSW, and the ACT refer to the snack as a 'scallop', while other regions prefer the terms 'cake' or 'fritter'.

The Pineapple Fritter, served warm, promises to be a delightful treat for those with a sweet tooth. For those who prefer a cold treat, Macca’s is also introducing a new Pineapple Sundae.

These new items are part of Macca's' summer release, which also includes a McCrispy Bacon Deluxe, a Tim Tam Chocolate McFlurry, and the returning Aussie Angus Deluxe.

The Tim Tam McFlurry, in particular, has been such a hit that Macca's has decided to make it a permanent fixture on their menu.

While Pineapple Fritters are a new addition to the menu, they have long been a favourite at Red Rooster, another popular fast food chain in Australia.

Menu innovation is a critical strategy for fast food chains like Macca’s. By introducing new and exciting items, these companies can attract new customers, retain existing ones, and stay ahead of the competition.

In addition to driving sales, menu innovation can also help fast food chains adapt to changing consumer trends. For example, the growing demand for healthier, plant-based options has led many fast food chains to introduce vegetarian and vegan items to their menus.

Tried the Potato Scallops when they came out. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT and soooooo expensive compared to my local takeaway who do massive ones with the absolute perfect batter and you always get double what you pay for, so even better.
Will give Macca's Pineapple Fritters a go as well as the Pineapple Sundae but I do prefer fresh pineapple especially with salt sprinkled all over it.
