"Sin" is weongly spelt if you are speaking of mathmatics. The correct word, and spelling, is SINE. It is also pronounced the same way as ' sign '.

But they weren't. They were using it in a sentence and incorrectly. You are correct also, when speaking about equations. "sin" is one of many abreviations used in mathmatics to help speed up the process of doing vast calculations.

I am aware of the spelling as related to Sine. However, as I failed maths dismally I chose to advertise my degree in nefarious arts, and also hoped to demonstrate my sense of humour.

Well you get an A+ for using big words like nefarious, the only big work I know is wheelbarrow.
