Man who allegedly scammed $180k out of would-be puppy owners got laid with additional 26 charges
Earlier in May, a man was arrested at a unit on George Street in Sydney's CBD after allegations of his involvement in a puppy scam. Today, the man was given 26 additional charges over the accusations.
The 53-year-old man was under a year-long investigation after a series of fake advertisements selling puppies — most of which are French and British bulldogs — had purportedly scammed thousands of dollars from would-be puppy owners.

The police said that the puppies, capped at $2000 to $5000 each, never existed.
Today, police laid an additional 26 charges as part of an ongoing investigation.
Further, the police accused the man of scamming more than $180,000 from prospective customers and acting as a money mule for a ‘multinational crime syndicate’ whom they suspect are behind the ads.
In total, at least 23 buyers across Victoria, NSW, South Australia, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia were swindled.
Currently, the man is on conditional bail and is set to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today.
