Ah, pizza–one of those delicious and comforting dishes we can always count on to lift our spirits. That said, what’s not so comforting is the shocking incident that happened at one popular Adelaide pizza spot on the evening of Wednesday, August 12.
At 7 pm, all seemed normal at Fat Jessy’s Pizza Bar in Salisbury until a 33-year-old man allegedly ‘lost it’ and unleashed an onslaught of destruction and chaos in what Nadia, a victim of the attack, called an 'awful experience'.
It all began when an employee of Fat Jessy’s asked the man what he wanted on his pizza. Witnesses say that, for reasons still unclear, this unleashed a violent emotional outburst from the man, whose behaviour quickly escalated from disruptive to destructive.
The man is said to have thrown a call bell at staff before ripping the cash register off the counter and hurling it at four cars outside the restaurant—including a police car. The damage caused by the cash register was significant, along with Nadia's windscreen being smashed.
Nadia said: ‘We just didn't want to run over him, so when we saw him come towards the car, we stopped and shattered the windscreen, my dog was in the back.’
While another victim said: ‘He just picked it up and threw it. We tried to drive off, but he picked it up and threw it again.’
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Reports say the 33-year-old’s rampage started when he was kicked out of a KFC in Salisbury.
‘He wanted to pay cash on the machines, and he got confused, then he got angry, then he started pushing people around, so he was kicked out’, Nadia says.
It didn’t end there, as the man apparently continued his rampage by spitting at the officers who attended the scene.
The 33-year-old is reportedly facing five counts of property damage, theft, and spitting on police.
